MUPY Pharmacy Students Participated in the 25th IPSF Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium 2026 in Indonesia

Between 7–14 July 2026, seven undergraduate students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, participated in the 25th IPSF Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium 2026 (APPS 2026) held in Surabaya, Indonesia. The symposium served as an international platform that brought together pharmacy students from across the Asia-Pacific region to exchange knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on the pharmacy profession while fostering international collaboration and professional networking.

The symposium featured a series of keynote sessions addressing emerging trends and innovations in pharmaceutical sciences and global healthcare. Topics included "Advancing Non-Communicable Disease Therapeutics Through Epigenetics and Precision Medicine," "AI & Robotics in Pharmacy: Transforming the Future of Healthcare," and "Stem Cell in Translational and Regenerative Medicine." These sessions provided participants with valuable insights into cutting-edge research, technological advancements, and future directions in pharmacy practice from internationally recognized experts.

In addition to the symposium, the program offered a wide range of academic workshops designed to strengthen students' professional knowledge and practical skills. Workshop topics included the Clinical Skill Event Workshop, Digital Transformation & Communities in Community Pharmacy: Empowering Pharmacists Through Technology, Building Confidence in Patient Counselling: Interactive Clinical Workshop, Detect & Diagnose: Practical Workshop on Chemical Diagnostic Kits, Jamu: Exploring the Science Behind Indonesia's Traditional Herbal Medicine, Aromatherapy Candle for Mental Health, Compounding Event Workshop, PHARMARKETING: Cosmetics Brand Management, Insights, and Claims, How to Make Essential Oil Blends and Natural Perfumes, and Cosmetics R&D: Advanced Formulation and Industrial Scaling. Alongside these academic activities, students also participated in several prestigious academic competitions, including the Patient Counseling Event (PCE), Clinical Skill Event (CSE), and Industrial Skill Event (ISE). Collectively, these activities provided an excellent platform for participants to enhance their academic knowledge, professional competencies, and practical pharmacy skills while exchanging experiences with pharmacy students from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The students participated in the symposium with the objective of enhancing their academic and professional competencies through international exposure. The event provided valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge on the evolving roles of pharmacists in the global healthcare landscape, equipping participants with broader perspectives and preparing them to adapt to future professional challenges. It also supported the development of students as Global Talents through international learning experiences. In addition, the students represented the Faculty in several academic competitions, including the Patient Counseling Event (PCE), Clinical Skill Event (CSE), and Industrial Skill Event (ISE). These competitions provided an excellent platform for participants to demonstrate their academic excellence, professional competencies, and practical pharmacy skills while further enhancing the international visibility and reputation of Mahidol University's pharmacy students.

Participation in APPS 2026 provided the students with meaningful international learning experiences, strengthening their academic knowledge, professional competencies, intercultural communication skills, leadership, and global perspectives through engagement with pharmacy students from across the Asia-Pacific region. These experiences will contribute significantly to their professional development as future pharmacists capable of working effectively in an increasingly interconnected global healthcare environment. The activity also aligns with Mission 1 of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, which aims to produce graduates of international quality, equipped with ethical values and professional competencies to meet societal needs. Furthermore, the initiative supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting high-quality learning opportunities, international competency development, and lifelong learning experiences that prepare students to become globally competent healthcare professionals.
