On Friday, September 4, 2026, from 02:00 p.m. to 04:00 p.m., the Graduate Program in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) hosted a special lecture entitled “Managing Uncertainty in Health Technology Assessment: Methods, Applications, and Policy Implications” at Room V401, 4th Floor, Research Building. The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montarat Thavorncharoensap, Chair of the Health Technology Assessment Graduate Program, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkaew.
The special lecture was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Boshen Jiao, a guest speaker from the Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics, Mann School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Southern California. The session provided faculty members and postgraduate students in the HTA program with an opportunity to explore approaches to identifying, assessing, and managing uncertainty in health technology assessment, with emphasis on methodological considerations, practical applications, and implications for health policy. A total of 15 participants attended the lecture and engaged in academic exchange on the topic.
The activity aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of uncertainty in HTA and enhance their ability to critically interpret evidence for informed decision-making in healthcare. The lecture also supported the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University’s mission to produce research and innovation that meet national and international standards by promoting knowledge exchange and methodological development in HTA. In addition, the activity contributed to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by supporting evidence-informed approaches to healthcare decision-making and health policy, and SDG 4: Quality Education through the advancement of specialized academic learning and professional competencies in health technology assessment.
