On Friday, September 4, 2026, from 01:30 p.m. to 03:00 p.m., the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), held a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony with the College of Pharmacy, National Defense Medical University (NDMU), at Room 606, Rajaratana Building. The ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, together with the MUPY executive members. The NDMU delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Hong-Jaan Wang, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, NDMU.
The MoU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan on behalf of MUPY, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, serving as witness. On behalf of NDMU, the MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Hong-Jaan Wang, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Ping-Hsuan Hsieh, Coordinator for International Affairs, serving as witness. The four-member NDMU delegation also included Assoc. Prof. Sung-Ling Tang and Asst. Prof. Shu-Yi Lin, both faculty members of the College of Pharmacy. The visit also included academic discussions and the exploration of collaborative opportunities in research development, joint grant initiatives, student exchange, and other forms of academic cooperation. In addition, the NDMU delegation participated in the kick-off event of the Global Center for Health Technology Assessment of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health held earlier that morning and toured MUPY’s state-of-the-art healthcare and academic facilities.
The MoU aimed to promote academic exchange and collaboration in pharmaceutical education, pharmaceutical sciences, educational exchange, scientific research, and technology transfer on the principles of equality and reciprocity, while fostering stronger institutional relations and mutual understanding between the two institutions. Areas of potential collaboration included undergraduate and postgraduate student exchanges; student internships, training, and professional practice; exchanges of faculty members, visiting scholars, researchers, and instructors; academic peer-review collaboration; joint lectures, symposia, and other learning activities; joint research programs and collaborations; exchanges of academic materials and information; and participation in joint conferences, seminars, workshops, and other scientific meetings. The collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for international academic engagement, strengthen research networks, enhance educational experiences for students and faculty members, and contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical education and research.
The initiative directly supports the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University’s missions to produce high-quality graduates who can respond to societal needs and to produce and disseminate research and innovation that meets national and international standards. It also advances the Faculty’s role in international academic collaboration and knowledge exchange. In terms of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the initiative contributes particularly to SDG 4: Quality Education, through educational exchange and capacity building; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through research, technology transfer, and innovation; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through strengthened international institutional partnerships and collaborative academic and research activities.
