MUPY Hosted Auburn University Delegation for Thailand Study Abroad Program 2026

On July 13–14, 2026, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, through its International Relations Office, hosted the Thailand Study Abroad Program 2026 and Site Visit for faculty members and Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) students from the Harrison College of Pharmacy, Auburn University (AU), USA. The two-day academic program was organized to strengthen international collaboration and provide participants with first-hand exposure to Thailand’s healthcare and pharmaceutical systems through a series of educational site visits. The program was coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, Deputy Dean for the Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program), and Dr. Amporn Songkasiri, Senior International Relations Officer. The site visit for the delegation from Auburn University (AU) was led and facilitated by Lect. Apirat Muangkasem and Lect. Dechawoot Wirikulcharoen throughout the two-day program.
The program featured visits to several leading healthcare institutions, including (1) Bangkok Hospital under Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), (2) Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, and (3) Community Pharmacy (Chumchon) Public Company Limited. Throughout these visits, participants gained valuable insights into Thailand’s healthcare delivery system, pharmaceutical care management, clinical pharmacy services, pharmaceutical production, and the expanding professional roles of pharmacists across hospital and manufacturing settings. The activities also promoted academic dialogue, professional knowledge exchange, and cross-cultural learning between the Auburn University delegation and Thai healthcare professionals, faculty members, and students.
The study abroad program successfully enhanced participants’ understanding of Thailand’s healthcare and pharmacy practice while strengthening the longstanding academic partnership between Mahidol University and Auburn University. It also provided valuable opportunities for collaborative learning, professional networking, and future educational cooperation. The activity aligns with the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University’s Mission 1 by fostering high-quality international pharmacy education and preparing globally competent graduates, as well as Mission 3 by strengthening academic and professional services through collaboration with leading healthcare organizations. Furthermore, the program contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting excellence in healthcare and pharmaceutical practice, SDG 4: Quality Education through international academic exchange and experiential learning, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by reinforcing sustainable global partnerships between higher education institutions and healthcare organizations.
