On October 25, 2025, (local time in the People’s Republic of China), three delegates from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wichit Nosoongnoen, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kotchaphan Chooluck, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jaturong Pratuangdejkul, participated in the Sino-Thai Partner Universities Cooperation and Exchange Activities hosted by the School of Pharmacy, Wenzhou Medical University (WMU). The event took place from 09:00 to 10:00 hrs. at Conference Room B108, 1st Floor, Biomedical Research Building, WMU. It brought together representatives from leading universities in Thailand and China to strengthen academic collaboration and explore future development under the framework of the Sino-Thai Biopharmaceutical Industry Alliance.
The cooperation between WMU and Thai higher education institutions is part of a long-term strategic partnership under China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which aims to deepen collaboration in education, research, healthcare, and cultural exchange. The alliance seeks to establish a collaborative innovation platform integrating research, industry, and education between China and Thailand, thereby promoting joint research, talent cultivation, technology transfer, and industrial collaboration in the field of biopharmaceutical sciences.
In the afternoon, the MUPY delegation joined the official visit to the Scientific Research Platform of the School of Pharmacy, which included an introduction by both parties and an exchange of cooperation intentions. The session provided a valuable opportunity to discuss practical directions for future collaboration and to enhance mutual understanding between the two institutions. During the session, the participants also engaged in in-depth discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation in pharmaceutical sciences, covering topics such as research collaboration, student and faculty exchange, and professional training programs. The exchange served not only as an academic dialogue but also as a diplomatic engagement reinforcing Thailand–China relations in pharmaceutical education and research. It further contributed to shared goals under the Health Silk Road Initiative, supporting both nations’ public health and innovation strategies.
Earlier in the day, the MUPY delegation also visited the University History Museum and the Biomedical Research Building of WMU, where they learned about the university’s historical achievements, educational development, and research excellence. Following this, they continued their program with visits to China Gene Medicine Valley and China Eye Valley—two prominent innovation hubs in Wenzhou recognized for their pioneering roles in biomedical and pharmaceutical technology.
These visits offered meaningful insights into China’s integrated model of academia–industry collaboration and opened new perspectives for future joint initiatives in pharmaceutical innovation. The participation of Mahidol University’s delegates reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to promoting international partnership, strengthening research capacity, and contributing to the advancement of pharmaceutical education and global health development.
