During May 16-27, 2025, two undergraduate students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), were selected to represent Thailand at the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA) held in Geneva, Switzerland. The students included Ms. Issariya Srisawedsupparak, a fourth-year student and Vice President for Foreign Affairs of the Pharmaceutical Students' Association of Thailand (PSAT), together with Ms. Chayapa Kaprasit, also a fourth-year student and President of the Mahidol University Pharmacy Student Association, serving as a PSAT committee member, were selected by the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) to participate in this prestigious international conference organized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The WHA is WHO’s highest decision-making body, bringing together health ministers, public health experts, and key stakeholders from all 194 WHO Member States. The Assembly provided a platform to discuss and formulate health policies, strategies, and responses to emerging global health issues. As IPSF delegates, Ms. Issariya and Ms. Chayapa had the unique opportunity to observe high-level discussions, engaged with global health leaders, and participated in various side events and policy briefings related to public health, pharmaceutical education, and youth engagement in health systems.
Their participation not only provided a rare and valuable learning experience in global health diplomacy and policy-making, but also reflected the strong commitment of Thai pharmacy students to contributing to international health dialogues. Furthermore, it highlighted the academic strength and global engagement of MUPY and other Thai pharmacy institutions in shaping future pharmacists to be competent professionals and proactive global citizens. This international exposure helped to foster cross-cultural collaboration, build leadership capacity, and reinforce the position of Thai pharmacy students as emerging leaders in the global health landscape.
