MUPY joins hand with Ministry of Public Health to promote research in medicinal plants and human resource development

MUPY signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department for Development of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM), the Ministry of Public Health. President of Mahidol University, Clinical Prof. Dr. Piyasakol Sakolsattayatorn, presided in this auspicious event. Distinguished delegates from DTAM who participated in this event were Dr. Nara Nakwattananukul (Director General of DTAM), Dr. Sonchai Wattana (Deputy Director of DTAM), Dr. Pramote Satienrat (Director of the Institute of Thai Traditional Medicine). The aim of the collaboration is to promote research in medicinal plants and to develop sustained dissemination of knowledge related to Thai medicinal plants. This will help making sure that Thai traditional medicine, a highly precious national heritage, will flourish in the years to come. Several of the well-established collaborative projects led by Assoc. Prof. Noppamas Soonthornchareonnon are training programs on the application of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standard for medicinal plants production and training program for hospital pharmacist on quality assurance of raw material and finished products from medicinal plants. The signing of MOU marked a special event that may ultimately lead to benefit to both the nation and worldwide.
