MUPY initiated academic collaboration with Kenya’s National Health Insurance Fund

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, local time in the Republic of Kenya, a delegation from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Brompoj Prutthiwanasan, Acting Deputy Dean for Graduate Studies and Information Technology, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Acting Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication paid a courtesy visit to the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) of Kenya. MUPY's delegates also included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkeaw, Program Director of the Graduate Program in Health Technology Assessment (MUHTA), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montarat Thavorncharoensap. 

During the visit, the MUPY delegation engaged in discussions with NHIF executives to explore opportunities for academic collaboration between MUPY and NHIF. Key topics of discussion included public healthcare and health technology assessment (HTA). Both parties also expressed interest in capacity building in academic and research, HTA institutional development, and collaborative projects aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage in Kenya.

Besides, this official visit contributed to MUPY’s Vision to be a pharmaceutical academic institution that meets international standard and contributes to the development of sustainable society. It also responded to SDG’s Goal 4th: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10th: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17th: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
