Student exchange program for Chiba University students

On March 11, 2024, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., the International Relations Office of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY) organized an organization meeting for the short-term student exchange program for nine undergraduate students from Chiba University’s  Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This exchange program was in collaboration with Sophia Global Education and Discovery Co., Ltd. (Sophia GED).

Having been held at Room 606, the orientation meeting for the exchange students was attended by MUPY’s executives led by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, the Dean, together with Assoc. Prof. Usa Chaikedkleaw, Deputy Dean for International and Public Relations, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waree Limwikrant, Head of the Department of Manufacturing Pharmacy. They also provided a warm welcome to Asst. Prof. Dr. Eri Nakamura along with the staff of  Sophia GED who accompanied the students to visit MUPY and participate in the collaborative student exchange program held during March 11-14, 2024. The students included 1) Mr. Riku Yoshiwara, 2) Mr. Hiroaki Kobayashi, 3) Mr. Keito Nakasone, 4) Mr. Yuichi Masuda, 5) Ms. Haruka Wakabayashi, 6) Ms. Sara Okazaki, 7) Ms. Rio Iwai, 8) Ms. Honoka Oishi, and 9) Ms. Saki Imai.

The objectives of this student exchange program were to 1) provide the participating students with international exposure and experiences in the field of pharmacy education and the healthcare and pharmacy systems of Thailand, 2) increase mutual understanding of the differences in the profession and responsibilities of pharmacists between the Thailand and Japan, and 3) develop participating students’ English language skill, cross-cultural communication, and interpersonal communication skills. It also aimed to increase academic staff and students' worldwide exposure, resulting in leveraging the global visibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Furthermore, this online activity responded to SDG’s Goal 4: Quality Education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
