On February 17 – 19, 2021 at 09.00 am. – 04.00 pm., MU-HTA Graduate Program in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH), Johns Hopkins University, USA, organized the 1st Capacity Building Training Program in Vaccine Economics under the project of Teaching Vaccine Economics Everywhere (TVEE). In this regard, Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, MUPY’s Dean, presided over the opening session and gave a warm welcoming speech to its 50 Thai participants via the Zoom Meeting platform.
This training program also had speakers from various institutions such as MU-HTA, JHSPH, and vaccine-related institutions. The content of this virtual training included 1) Vaccine Economics in Health Systems, 2) Costing of Immunization Programs, 3) Economic Evaluation of Vaccines and Immunization Programs, and 4) Applying Economics to Vaccination Program Locally. The purpose of this training program was to build the capacity of people in health professions, especially, in the dimension of vaccine economics. In addition, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, as a representative school in the East Asian region, had agreed to be a training center for this project.
Moreover, TVEE aims for capacity building on vaccine economics by applying economics, economic evaluation, and health finance in national immunization management. In particular, management for the preparation and planning to implement the COVID-19 vaccines. TVEE has a strategy that the training and capacity-building activities must be consistent with the context of each country or region. Therefore, an educational institution in each region has been designated as the main operator.
