On Friday, November 7, 2025, administrative members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), led by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, Dr. Pongpol Thanuphol, Assistant Dean for Corporate Communication, and Dr. Amporn Songkasiri, participated in the 2025 ASEAN PharmNET Deans’ Summit. The event was hosted by the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy (CTUMP) in Can Tho, Vietnam, with MUPY serving as the co-host institution. The summit’s opening session was presided over by the Rector of CTUMP.

This year’s summit featured four key activities: (1) sharing best practices in school management, (2) strategic planning for the future direction of the US–ASEAN Pharmacy Consortium, (3) planning for the 2026 ASEAN PharmNET Scientific Conference, and (4) various networking activities among member institutions. Representatives from leading U.S. pharmacy schools under the US–ASEAN Pharmacy Consortium also took part in these sessions. A highlight of the event was the signing ceremony marking CTUMP’s inclusion into both ASEAN PharmNET and the US–ASEAN Pharmacy Consortium, signifying an important step forward in expanding collaborative networks in pharmacy education and research.

The summit brought together over 70 participants, including three invited speakers from the U.S., 22 deans and representatives from ASEAN PharmNET member institutions, 39 delegates from Thai pharmacy schools, and 11 representatives from Vietnamese pharmacy faculties. The ASEAN PharmNET Deans’ Summit serves as a platform for academic leaders from across Southeast Asia to exchange experiences, foster partnerships, and align strategic goals that enhance pharmacy education, professional practice, and research capacity across the region.

The participation of MUPY’s executives in this summit is expected to further strengthen the Faculty’s international collaborations and visibility, enhance academic exchange, and foster research and educational development aligned with MUPY’s mission to produce high-quality graduates and internationally recognized research and innovation. This initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by advancing regional cooperation and promoting sustainable academic and professional development in pharmacy education.
