During July 2–9, 2025, six students representing the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), participated in the 24th IPSF Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium (APPS) 2025, held under the theme “PharmBeyond – Bridging Cultures, Inspiring Futures.” MUPY delegation included Ms. L Josephine Yap, Mr. Bhuwit Apapisudth, Ms. Thunradee Suttipinthu, Ms. Anamika Kaewnok, Ms. Issariya Srisawedsupparak, and Ms. Chayapa Kaprasit. Organized by the Malaysian Pharmacy Students' Association, the event took place at Zecon Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and brought together pharmacy students, professionals, and educators from across the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
In this regard, Ms. Issariya Srisawedsupparak, in her capacity as the IPSF Contact Person for PSAT, Thailand, represented Thailand at the meeting to present her closing report for the term. Meanwhile, Ms. Chayapa Kaprasit joined the regional meeting as a Regional Assembly Assistant, contributing to the efficient conduct of the proceedings.
The week-long symposium featured a diverse program designed to foster academic growth, professional development, and cross-cultural collaboration. Key activities included academic competitions testing clinical, patient counselling, industrial, and compounding skills; the PharmaPitch Challenge; a poster competition; and professional workshops. Participants also engaged in the IPSF APRO Hand In Hand Project, which addressed One Health from the perspectives of Public Health, Pharmacy Education, and Professional Development. Additional highlights included team-building sessions to enhance communication and leadership skills, central symposium sessions, International Night, and educational site visits to leading hospitals and pharmaceutical facilities in Malaysia such as Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, Duopharma Biotech Berhad, as well as a cultural tour of Putrajaya that enriched participants’ experiences.
The primary objective of the 24th IPSF APPS 2025 was to inspire, connect, and shape the future of healthcare through innovation and teamwork. By providing a dynamic platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaborative learning, the symposium aimed to strengthen professional networks and promote best practices in pharmaceutical education and healthcare delivery across the Asia Pacific region. The event also offered significant benefits for participating students and institutions alike. For students, it provided hands-on learning opportunities, development of essential professional competencies, and the chance to cultivate intercultural understanding and collaboration. For the broader academic and professional community, it fostered international cooperation, supported innovation in pharmacy education, and encouraged a shared commitment to addressing complex healthcare challenges in the region.
In addition, this initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By promoting inclusive, high-quality educational experiences, facilitating cross-border collaboration, and strengthening institutional partnerships, the 24th IPSF APPS 2025 stands as a meaningful contribution toward advancing these global goals.
