On Monday, April 21, 2025, at 09.00 A.M., Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, by its Antimicrobial Resistance Interdisciplinary Center (AMRIC), in collaboration with Macquarie University, Australia, and with the support of the International Relations Division, Mahidol University, hosted the “Mahidol-Macquarie Joint Symposium: Antimicrobial Resistance in a Post-Antibiotic Era”. Having been held at Room 606 of Rajaratana Building, the symposium was opened with remarks from Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

This event brought together experts from pharmaceutical science, synthetic biology, and public health to explore innovative strategies for combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) — a growing global health crisis that threatens the effectiveness of life-saving treatments and increases the burden of infectious diseases. The event featured research presentations and discussions on AMR by Dr. Paul Jaschke, Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mullika Chomnawang, Head of AMRIC, and Mahidol University’s researchers and scientists.

Furthermore, this event corresponded to the Faculty’s mission on terms of serving as the portal for professional services that encompasses drugs, herbal medicine, cosmetics and dietary supplement to support the sustainable development of the nation. It also responded to SDG’s 3rd Goal: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, 10th Goal: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and 17th Goal: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership.
