On Monday, September 23, 2024, at 10.00 A.M., Mahidol University's Faculty of Pharmacy (MUPY), through its International Relations Office, hosted an orientation meeting for eight exchange students from the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Indonesia. The event, held in Room 406, received attendance from MUPY's executives led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Acting Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, along with Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, Acting Deputy Dean for Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program), who provided a warm welcome to UMY representatives led by Dr. Pramitha Esha Nirmala Dewi, accompanying eight students to visit MUPY. These students included 1) Ms. Diva Qaisya Rakhenditya, 2) Ms. Mahdiah Tsania Kholda, 3) Ms. Nadia Wahyu Agustin, 4) Ms. Queen Julia Chaesar, 5) Ms. Vanya Almira Raissa, 6) Ms. Yumna Alifah, 7) Ms. Sa'diyah Indy Fatiha, and 8) Ms. Nur Fathini Mulia Utami. They participated in the 2024 Student Mobility Program held from September 23, 2024 to October 12, 2024, which focused on Thailand’s public healthcare system, pharmacy system and education, and pharmacist roles.
The primary goal of this student exchange program was to offer the incoming students with an immersive experience in Thailand’s healthcare and pharmacy systems, including our education system, pharmaceutical sciences basic knowledge, and the roles of pharmacists. This program also aimed to help the participating students expand their professional skills, social interactions, and sense of global citizenship, all of which would benefit their future career in pharmacy profession. Besides, MUPY hoped this exchange would promote a deeper understanding of the differences in pharmacy system and practices between Thailand and Indonesia, while also enhancing an English language proficiency, cross-cultural communication, and interpersonal skills. By participating in this program, the incoming students also contributed to fostering international connections within our Faculty of Pharmacy, enriching both our academic community and theirs. This initiative also sought to enhance the global exposure of MUPY's academic staff and students, thereby elevating the international profile of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Besides, this student exchange program strengthened a strong relationship between MUPY and UMY. Furthermore, this exchange responded to SDG’s Goal 4: Quality Education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
