MUPY joined an opening session of the Study Visit Program for Laotian trainees

On November 21, 2022, from 09:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., MUPY’s executives led by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, the Dean, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkaew, the Deputy Dean for International and Public Relations, attended an opening session of the Study Visit Program under the ‘Training Program in Technology of Medicine and Public Health for Health Personnel from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic initiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’ for its 23rd and 24th batch (2022-2023). Having been held at Mahidol University’s Faculty of Dentistry, the activities consisted of an academic presentation of 14 research projects carried out by Laotian trainees who had participated in the 2022 and 2023 online Training Program. After that, a Certificate Awarding Ceremony was held for all 49 Laotian trainees who had completed the previous online Training Programs which were hosted by Mahidol University’s faculties/institutions including the Faculty of Pharmacy. After the morning session, the orientation for the Pharmacy Program was arranged at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University for five Laotian trainees. It was joined by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkaew, the Deputy Dean for International and Public Relations, Dr. Krisada Sakchaisri, and Dr. Amporn Songkasiri, Head of the International Relations Division, who introduced the 5-day site visit for all trainees. The trainees in 23rd Batch consisted of the followings: 1) Mr. Chansouk Vongsansouvanh, Vientiane Prefecture District 2) Ms. Lathdaphone Phoumanivong, Xiengkhouang District The trainees in 24th Batch consisted of the followings: 1) Mrs. Sikaipou Thoungsay 2) Mrs. Hatsadee Chanthasida 3) Mr. Saykham Saisoukham The Study Visit Program was organized during November 20 – December 2, 2022, under a collaboration of three institutions including 1) The Office of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Projects (OPSP), 2) MOFA’s Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and 3) Mahidol University (MU) by its faculties/institutions. This time, there were 49 Laotian trainees joined the Visiting Program in 11 training programs arranged by 7 MU’s faculties/institutions. This visit aimed to provide its participants with actual visit in Thailand to increase practical knowledge and professional skills in medical and public health aspects as well as health promotion and prevention, resulting in strengthening and developing public health of Lao people. Furthermore, this activity responded to the Faculty’s mission in terms of serving as the portal for professional services that encompasses drugs, herbal medicine, cosmetics and dietary supplement to support the sustainable development of the nation. It also responded to the SDG’s Goal 4: Quality Education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
