On Monday, January 12, 2026, from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m., the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), through its International Relations Unit, organized an orientation for exchange students from the School of Pharmacy, Showa Medical University, Japan. The session was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, and Dr. Suwida Tangtrakultham, along with MUPY students who provided a warm welcome at Room 404, Rajaratana Building.
The two undergraduate students— Miss Yuki Kaneko and Miss Yuna Saito—are participating in the Professional Training Program in Clinical Pharmacy from January 12, 2026 to February 6, 2026. Their training will be conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy and its affiliated practice sites, including 1) Bhumirajanagarindra Kidney Institute Hospital, 2) Somdech Phra Debaratana Medical Center, Ramathibodi Hospital, and 3) Boots Pharmacy.
The objective of this training program was to provide the participating students with international exposure and experiences focusing on clinical pharmacy practices in different healthcare settings including hospitals, healthcare service centers, and drug stores, allowing them to explore and compare the healthcare system and pharmacy practices of Thailand and Japan as well as to learn more about traditional medicine of both countries.
This training program could help increase mutual understanding of the differences in the profession and responsibilities of pharmacists between the two countries. Besides, participating in this program could help develop the student’s English language skills, cross-cultural communication, and interpersonal communication skills. This also determined to increase academic staff, pharmacists, and student’s worldwide exposure, resulting in leveraging the global visibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy and its training sites.
This exchange program also supports the Faculty’s mission to serve as a center of academic excellence in pharmaceuticals, herbal medicines, cosmetics, and food, contributing to sustainable national development. It also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering international collaboration, addressing educational disparities, and promoting the global advancement of pharmacy education.
