MUPY hosted Orientation for Exchange Students from Meiji Pharmaceutical University, Japan

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 9.00 AM, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), through its International Relations Unit, organized an orientation for exchange students from Meiji Pharmaceutical University (MPU), Japan. The session was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication, and Asst. Prof. Sayamon Sukkha, Assistant Dean for Professional Affairs, who provided a warm welcome at Room 404, Rajaratana Building.
The three undergraduate students, namely 1) Miss Sakura Iwano, 2) Miss Satsuki Kiryu, and 3) Miss Kana Tachigori, are participating in the Professional Training Program in Clinical Pharmacy from December 15, 2025, to February 12, 2026. Their training will be conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy and its affiliated practice sites, including 1) Ramathibodi Hospital, 2) Boots Pharmacy, 3) Tops Care Pharmacy, 4) Chao Phraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital, and 5) Public Health Service Center Administration 51 (Chatuchak).
The objective of this training program was to provide the participating students with international exposure and experiences focusing on clinical pharmacy practices in different healthcare settings including hospitals, healthcare service centers, and drug stores, allowing them to explore and compare the healthcare system and pharmacy practices of Thailand and Japan as well as to learn more about traditional medicine of both countries.
This training program could help increase mutual understanding of the differences in the profession and responsibilities of pharmacists between the two countries. Besides, participating in this program could help develop the student’s English language skills, cross-cultural communication, and interpersonal communication skills. This also determined to increase academic staff, pharmacists, and student’s worldwide exposure, resulting in leveraging the global visibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy and its training sites.
This exchange program supports the Faculty’s mission to serve as a center of academic excellence in pharmaceuticals, herbal medicines, cosmetics, and food, contributing to sustainable national development. It also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering international collaboration, addressing educational disparities, and promoting the global advancement of pharmacy education.
