The visit was organized with four primary objectives: to strengthen academic partnerships; to exchange insights on curriculum development and educational management; to explore future cooperation in academic and research endeavors; and to gain an understanding of pharmacy practice in Thailand through experiential visits to hospital, community, and public-health pharmacy settings.
The two-day program commenced on December 1, 2025, at the Phayathai Campus with a formal welcoming session and an overview of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, followed by a presentation delivered by the representatives from Showa Medical University. A round-table meeting was subsequently convened to discuss potential areas of collaboration in education, research, staff and student mobility, and professional development. The morning session also featured a special lecture titled “Pharmacoepidemiologic Research and Field-Based Studies in Practical Pharmacy”, delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kenji Momo. The delegation then joined a guided tour of the Faculty’s facilities before attending a luncheon. In the afternoon, they visited Veterans General Hospital, where Dr. Warawan Chungsivapornpong, Director of the Pharmacy Division, hosted discussions and demonstrations of the hospital’s pharmacy services and clinical practices.
On the second day, December 2, 2025, the delegation continued their field observations at Phonprasit Pharmacy, hosted by Ms. Chanakit Imbumrung, gaining further insights into community pharmacy operations and patient-care services. Following this, the group proceeded to the Public Health Service Center Administration 51 (Chatuchak), where they were welcomed by Mr. Jatuporn Thong-im and had the opportunity to explore public-health pharmacy services and community-level healthcare initiatives under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
The visit reaffirmed the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University’s commitment to fostering long-term academic collaboration with the School of Pharmacy, Showa Medical University. The engagement strengthened mutual understanding, supported ongoing dialogue, and established a solid foundation for future cooperative initiatives. This activity aligns with the Faculty’s missions to advance high-quality education, promote international-standard research and innovation, and serve as a professional hub for academic services in pharmacy and healthcare. It also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education, through its emphasis on global academic partnerships and the enhancement of professional pharmacy practice.
