On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, three delegates from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wichit Nosoongnoen, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kotchaphan Chooluck and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jaturong Pratuangdejkul, paid an official visit to the School of Pharmacy, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, Hubei Province, the People’s Republic of China. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the administrators of HUST, led by Prof. ZENG Jing, Vice-Dean of the School of Pharmacy.
During the visit, representatives from MUPY and HUST engaged in a series of constructive meetings focused on strengthening long-term academic and research collaboration in the pharmaceutical sciences. Both institutions exchanged information on their respective educational frameworks, research priorities, and innovation strategies in areas such as drug discovery, pharmaceutical technology, and healthcare advancement. Discussions also explored a range of potential joint initiatives, including the development of collaborative research projects, co-supervision of postgraduate students, joint academic seminars, and short-term exchange programs for faculty members and students. These efforts aim to foster cross-institutional learning, promote cultural understanding, and advance scientific discovery through shared expertise and resources.
In addition, the MUPY delegation was given a guided tour of HUST’s research and learning facilities, including advanced laboratories and experimental centers specializing in pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry, and clinical pharmacy. The visit provided an opportunity to explore the host institution’s modern research infrastructure and gain deeper insights into its innovative approaches to pharmaceutical education and practice.
This visit marked a significant milestone in enhancing academic relations between the two institutions. It reaffirmed a shared vision to promote excellence in pharmacy education and research, while paving the way for future collaborations in joint publications, international symposiums, and capacity-building initiatives. Both parties expressed strong mutual interest in formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support these cooperative endeavors and continue building a dynamic academic partnership that contributes to regional and global pharmaceutical advancement.
This activity aligns with the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University’s missions to (1) produce graduates with quality equivalent to leading pharmacy institutions in Asia, equipped with morality and competency to serve societal needs, and (2) produce research and innovation that meet national and international standards. Furthermore, it contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through the promotion of global academic partnerships and international collaboration for sustainable development.
