On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 02:30 PM to 04:30 PM, the International Relations Unit of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), organized a special lecture session featuring distinguished Chinese guest speakers. The event took place at Room V401 of MUPY's Research Building and was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, who delivered a welcoming speech. Also joining the event included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wichit Nosoongnoen, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Somnuk Bunsupa, Assistant Dean for Research and Innovation, who were also in attendance and actively engaged in the academic discussions.
The event featured two prominent experts: Prof. Yao Jianhua from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Wang Junwei from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Cooperation Center Bangkok. Prof. Yao delivered a lecture on "AI Applications in Pharmacy, Chemistry, and Biology," highlighting the transformative role of artificial intelligence in advancing pharmaceutical and life sciences. Prof. Wang presented on the topic "Allicin E – Antimicrobial: Providing Innovative Solutions in the Fight Against Pathogenic Microorganisms," offering insights into novel antimicrobial strategies. The lecture session was attended by MUPY faculty members and researchers. The primary objectives of the event were to facilitate academic discourse through the guest lectures and to explore opportunities for future academic and research collaborations between MUPY and leading Chinese research institutions.
The event yielded valuable insights into cutting-edge research and fostered meaningful dialogue between the attendees and the guest speakers. It served as a platform for knowledge exchange and laid the groundwork for potential collaborative initiatives. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by enhancing access to international academic expertise, promoting inclusive educational opportunities, and strengthening global partnerships in higher education and research.
