On Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 08:30 A.M. to 09:30 A.M. (Bangkok time), the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), held an online meeting with representatives from the Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Southern California (USC), via the Zoom platform. The meeting served as a continuation of academic dialogue to advance international clinical education and experiential training opportunities.
MUPY’s delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jennis Meanwatthana, Deputy Dean for the Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program). The USC delegation was led by Dr. Terrence F. Graham, Associate Dean for Graduate Education, along with key academic coordinators overseeing international experiential education.
The main agenda of the meeting focused on the forthcoming clinical rotation of two USC pharmacy students at healthcare facilities affiliated with MUPY. These students are scheduled to undertake their clinical placement from September 29 to November 17, 2025. During this period, the students will gain hands-on professional experience in Thai healthcare settings, guided by licensed preceptors, while engaging with local healthcare teams to broaden their cross-cultural competencies and clinical skills.
The discussion also covered pre-arrival logistics, expectations of the training outcomes, and student support mechanisms to ensure a productive and safe learning environment. Both institutions reaffirmed their mutual commitment to fostering international academic mobility and enhancing global pharmacy education. The meeting concluded with a shared enthusiasm for continuing and expanding academic exchanges between MUPY and USC, reinforcing the role of global collaboration in shaping future-ready health professionals.
This collaboration reflects MUPY’s strategic aim to cultivate globally competent pharmacists and contribute to high-impact academic partnerships. It also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, and Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
