On Friday, May 30, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 02:00 P.M., the executives of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY) had the honor of welcoming a delegation from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Yunnan College of Modern Biomedical Industry), Kunming Medical University (KMU), People's Republic of China. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean of MUPY, together with the executive team, extended a warm and formal welcome to the delegates, who included 1) Prof. Jingyu Lang (Vice Dean), 2) Prof. Yiping Zhou (Director and Professor of Yunnan Key Laboratory of Pharmacology of Natural Medicines), 3) Prof. Dandan Liu (Director and Professor of the Office of Discipline Research and Graduate Management), 4) Prof. Ji Li (Director of the Office of Teaching Management), and 5) Dr. Xiaoxue Tian (Foreign Affairs Secretary).
The visit was driven by three primary objectives. Firstly, it sought to establish and strengthen global academic partnerships through constructive dialogue, fostering long-term collaboration and mutual understanding in alignment with MUPY’s internationalization strategy. Secondly, the visit served as a platform to explore potential academic and research collaborations, including student and staff mobility programs, joint research projects, co-hosted academic events, and capacity-building initiatives.
During the meeting, both institutions also engaged in an in-depth exchange of views and experiences on the management of undergraduate education, including both Thai and international programs. The discussion encompassed key areas such as undergraduate and graduate education management, including international PharmD program, integrated teaching and learning approaches, as well as strategies to cultivate professional and global competencies essential for 21st-century graduates. They also discussed future academic collaboration plans.
After the discussion, the Faculty's executive team led the delegation from KMU on a tour of the research centers and academic service units within the Faculty to provide a clearer understanding of its capabilities and strategic direction. These efforts aim to align educational practices with the evolving landscape of regional and global healthcare systems. Lastly, the delegates were given a guided campus tour to observe MUPY’s state-of-the-art educational and research facilities, providing insights into the faculty’s academic environment, infrastructure, and student-centered learning spaces.
This academic dialogue not only enriched the perspectives of both parties, but also fostered mutual understanding and collaborative learning in the context of cultural and educational diversity. Furthermore, it laid the foundation for potential future collaborations, such as joint teaching initiatives, co-development of academic programs, and faculty exchange activities, thereby contributing to the advancement of high-quality and internationally competitive pharmacy education.
This important engagement reflects MUPY’s steadfast commitment to advancing international cooperation and promoting global academic excellence through strategic partnerships and collaborative innovation. Furthermore, the visit aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically: Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all; Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries; and Goal 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
