On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 01:30 P.M. to 03:30 P.M., the executive members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, along with Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, Deputy Dean for the Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program), Asst. Prof. Sayamon Sukkha, Assistant Dean for Professional Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Farsai Chanjaruporn, warmly welcomed a delegation from Japan's Meiji Pharmaceutical University (MPU). The delegation, headed by Prof. Dr. Manabu Akazawa and Prof. Dr. Kazuhiro Higuchi, was hosted at Room 309 for a productive discussion on strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions. The meeting focused on exploring future partnerships, including student exchange programs and clinical clerkship opportunities.
As part of their visit, the MPU delegates conducted site visits hosted by MUPY to key training locations the following day, December 18, 2024, including the Pharmacy Department at Ramathibodi Hospital and Public Healthcare Service Center 51 (Chatuchak) under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). These visits served a dual purpose: to express their appreciation for the invaluable support provided by the training sites in hosting MPU exchange students in previous years and to explore potential avenues for future clinical training collaborations. The delegation also took the opportunity to engage with the preceptors, including 1) Ms. Nantaporn Lekpittaya (Pharmacy Department, Ramathibodi Hospital), and 2) Mr. Jatuporn Thong-im (BMA's Public Healthcare Service Center 51 (Chatuchak)). Through this engagement, MUPY and MPU reaffirm their commitment to fostering academic excellence and international collaboration, paving the way for impactful advancements in pharmacy education and professional practice.
Furthermore, this visit of Japanese professors supported the Faculty’s Missions in terms of serving as the portal for professional services that encompasses drugs, herbal medicine, cosmetics, and dietary supplement to support the sustainable development of the nation. It also responded to the SDG’s Goal 4: Quality Education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
