On December 12, 2024, from 10.00 A.M. – 12.00 P.M., Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, Deputy Dean for the Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program), and Asst. Prof. Sayamon Sukkha, Assistant Dean for Professional Affairs, along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Farsai Chanjaruporn, Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy, provided a warm welcome to three exchange students from Meiji Pharmaceutical University (MPU), Japan, at Room 404, Rajaratana Building.
The three undergraduate students, namely 1) Mr. Taisei Hanai, 2) Ms. Karin Kobayashi, and 3) Ms. Mayu Soga, participated in the Professional Training Program in Clinical Pharmacy physically arranged by MUPY’s International Relations Unit. The traing program was scheduled from December 11, 2024, to February 8, 2025, at the Faculty of Pharmacy and affiliated training sites including 1) Bumrungrad International Hospital 2) Ramathibodi Hospital 3) Furucho Pharmacy Prakanong 4) Your Peace Pharmacy Silom 5) Chao Phraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital 6) Public Health Service Center 51 (Chatuchak), Bangkok.
The objective of this training program was to provide the participating students with international exposure and experiences focusing on clinical pharmacy practices in different healthcare settings including hospitals, healthcare service centers, and drug stores, allowing them to explore and compare the healthcare system and pharmacy practices of Thailand and Japan as well as to learn more about traditional medicine of both countries.
This training program could help increase mutual understanding of the differences in the profession and responsibilities of pharmacists between the two countries. Besides, participating in this program could help develop the student’s English language skills, cross-cultural communication, and interpersonal communication skills. This also determined to increase academic staff, pharmacists, and student’s worldwide exposure, resulting in leveraging the global visibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy and its training sites.
Furthermore, this exchange program supported the Faculty’s Missions in terms of serving as the portal for professional services that encompasses drugs, herbal medicine, cosmetics and dietary supplement to support the sustainable development of the nation. It also responded to the SDG’s Goal 4th: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17th: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
