ยารักษาอาการปวดท้องเกร็ง (antispasmodic drug) ที่มีการใช้ในปัจจุบันมีอยู่หลายกลุ่ม ซึ่งยาบางชนิดมักทำให้มีอาการปากแห้ง คอแห้ง ตาพร่ามัว มึนงง ท้องผูก ปัสสาวะลำบาก และอาจทำให้หัวใจเต้นเร็วได้ ซึ่งอาการเหล่านี้มักดีขึ้นเมื่อหยุดยา ตัวอย่างยาในกลุ่มนี้ เช่น hyoscine N-butylbromide อย่างไรก็ตาม หากพบว่าอาการข้างเคียงยังคงอยู่เป็นเวลานานนาน อาการไม่ดีขึ้น หรือมีแนวโน้มจะแย่ลง แนะนำให้รีบไปพบแพทย์
