Avandia (Rosiglitazone) ไม่ทำให้เกิด hypertension แต่ Avandia สามารถลดการเกิด hypertension ได้โดย
- ลดการนำ calcium เข้าสู่เซล และ/หรือ ลดการทำงานของ rennin-angiotensin และ sympathetic system
- เปลี่ยนแปลง proliferation ของ vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) และลดการอักเสบที่บริเวณผนังหลอดเลือด
- ลดการกระตุ้น macrophage และ VSMCs
- เพิ่มการ express ของ CREB ( cAMP response element-binding protein) ซึ่งเป็น protein ที่เกี่ยวกับการกระตุ้น smooth muscle cells
