On Monday, August 29, 2022, at 09.00 a.m., the Graduate Program in Health Technology Assessment (HTA) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montarat Thavorncharoensap and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong hosted a warm welcome for four new students in their Graduate Program. The new students included one Vietnamese student, namely Ms. Tran Thi Phung, in the Master’s degree. The other three students enrolled in the doctoral degree included one Thai student, namely Mr. Sarayuth Khuntha, and two Nigerian students, namely Mr. Abdulrasheed Hassan Yusuf and Mr. Bello Usman Ardo. These four new students have been granted a scholarship from the HTA Graduate Program to conduct their studies in the Program at Mahidol University. For two Nigerian students, this was a result of the recent MOU between Thailand’s Mahidol University and Nigeria’s National Health Insurance Agency (NHIA). The MOU aimed to enhance the capacity building of Nigeria’s healthcare personnel and relevant organizations through a higher education and training program in order to build HTA capacity in their home country. In addition, this collaboration responded to SDG’s Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms everywhere, Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
