The opening ceremony of the ’2022 Training Program in Technology of Medicine and Public Health for Health Personnel from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic’

On February 1, 2022, from 09:30 a.m. - 11:30 p.m., MUPY’s executives led by the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkaew, the Deputy Dean for International and Public Relations, together with Dr. Krisada Sakchaisri and Mr. Amporn Songkasiri, Head of the International Relations Division, participated in an opening ceremony of the ’2022 Training Program in Technology of Medicine and Public Health for Health Personnel from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic’ initiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The opening session for the 24th batch was virtually organized via the Zoom Meeting. This year, there were 42 Laotian trainees in 9 training programs hosted by several faculties of Mahidol University including the Faculty of Pharmacy. The training program was initiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and has continuously been provided on an annual basis under a collaboration of the Royal Office, MOFA’s Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and Mahidol University’s faculties. The objectives were 1) to increase the knowledge and skills in health promotion and prevention, 2) to strengthen and develop public health, and 3) to exchange knowledge and experiences in the development of medical technology and public health. Regarding this, three Laotian pharmacists who had participated in the Pharmacy Program were as follows. 1) Mrs. Sikaipou THOUNGSAY 2) Mrs. Hatsadee CHANTHASIDA 3) Mr. Saykham SAISOUKHAM After the opening ceremony, the Faculty of Pharmacy also virtually arranged the orientation meeting for three trainees via the Cisco Webex Meeting. This session provided them with an overview of the Pharmacy Program and an advising session for them in order to develop their research proposal since they would have to conduct their research study and present the findings at the end of the training program. Furthermore, this online session responded to SDG’s Goal 4: Quality Education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
