On Monday, May 1, 2021, from 01:00 p.m. to 02:00 p.m., MUPY officially hosted a virtual webinar entitled ’Andrographis paniculata for COVID-19 Treatment and Prevention’ which was broadcasted via YouTube Live to its 700 participants across the country. The webinar’s welcoming speech was addressed by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, MUPY’s Dean, followed by the academic talk focusing on Andrographis paniculata for COVID-19 Treatment and Prevention. The lectures of this online seminar were delivered by three experts including 1) Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noppamas Soonthornchareonnon, Advisor of MUPY’s Medicinal Plant Information Center and the President of the College of Herbal Pharmacy of Thailand, 2) Dr. Anchalee Chuthaputti, former Director of the Academic and Planning Division, MOPH’s Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, and 3) Dr. Pakakrong Kwankhao. Chief of the Center of Evidence-based Thai Traditional and Herbal Medicine, Chao Phya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital. In addition, the moderator of this academic webinar was Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattawut Charoenthai, Assistant Dean for Professional Affairs.
The objectives of this academic webinar included providing accurate knowledge and updated evidence-based information regarding the uses of ’Andrographis paniculata’ for COVID-19 treatment to registered pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and the people across the country as well as promoting the safe uses and practices of Andrographis paniculata and other medicinal plant and herbal medicine in the treatment and prevention of COVID-19. Furthermore, the webinar was intended to enhance the well-being of Thai people by raising awareness of the safe use of herbal medicine, promote access to accurate academic knowledge, and support the lifelong learning of the people in the society. This event also promoted the SDGs’ goal concerning Good Health and Well-being to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
