Having been led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mullika Chomnawang, Deputy Dean for Research & International Relations, MUPY delegation including faculty executives, academic staff, supporting staff, and students visited Yogyakarta, Indonesia to attend The 6th ICPAPS - The 3rd ASEAN PharmNET 2019 held during November 14-15, 2019 at Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The conference was officially hosted by Faculty of Pharmacy, Gadjah Mada University, and co-hosted by Indonesian 11 pharmacy schools including 1) Sanata Dharma University 2) Bandung Institute of Technology 3) Universitas Indonesia 4) Universitas Surabaya 5) Universitas Airlangga 6) Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta 7) Universitas Ahmad Dahlan 8) Pancasila University 9) Hassanudin University 10) Universitas Padjadjaran and 11) Jendral Ahmad Yani University.
The conference focused on recent advances in pharmaceutical sciences and education related to all disciplines. The goal of the conference was to create the platform where international participants could share knowledge and experiences in pharmacy education and research which would hopefully lead to the benefits of the ASEAN pharmacy community altogether. The Conference consisted of a Keynote Speech, Parallel Presentations showcasing the latest research in the field of pharmaceutical sciences and educations, International Jamu Festival exhibiting various ethnomedicinal products, a Gala Dinner, and a Dean Forum.
Regarding this, Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, was officially invited to be the Plenary Speaker of the conference with the topic of ’Preceptor Development and Partnership: Thailand’s Experience’. Furthermore, MUPY’s academic staff and supporting staff were accepted as poster presenters as follows.
1) Asst. Prof. Dr. Orasa Suriyaphan was accepted with the research study entitled ’Effect of decoction condition on in vitro alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activity of Mesona chinensis water extract’.
2) Asst. Prof. Dr. Anchalee Jintapattanakit was accepted with the research study entitled ’Development and antimicrobial study of Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix DC.) oil nanoemulsions prepared by low energy preparation methods’.
3) Asst. Prof. Dr. Krit Thirapanmethee was accepted with the research study entitled ’Anti-inflammatory activity of Schizophyllum commune extracts’.
4) Ms. Nanthawan Jinakul, supporting staff in the Microbiology Department, was accepted with the research study entitled ’Determination of microbial contamination in non-sterile pharmaceutical products distributed locally in Thailand’.
5) Ms. Kanpitcha Namchan, supporting staff in MUPY-CAPQ (Microbiology), was accepted with the research study entitled ’Microbiological control of oral herbal medicines in Thailand’.
6) Mr. Sukkamon Chinoraso, the 6th-year student, was accepted with the research study entitled ’Determination of caffeic acid in Thunbergia laurifolia leaves using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)’.
7) Ms. Siripa Chawbol, the 6th-year student, was accepted with the research study entitled ’Microbial transformation of resveratrol by Actinomycetes’.
8) Ms. Chanakarn Suwanchindachai, the 6th-year student, was accepted with the research study entitled ’Anticancer activity test of novelpyrimidopyrimidinone and triazole derivatives in HepG2 hepatoma cell line’.
In addition, two 4th-year students joined The 3rd ASEAN PharmNET: Student Chapter 2019.
