MUHTA Graduate Program Joined MPU's Research Interview

On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 09:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Graduate Program in Health Technology Assessment (MUHTA) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkaew, the Deputy Dean for International and Public Relations, and the MUHTA's Program Director, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montarat Thavorncharoensap hosted a reception for Japanese researchers led by Dr. Hideki MAEDA from the Department of Regulatory Science, Meiji Pharmaceutical University, Japan. The meeting was arranged at V401 Meeting Room. They visited MUPY to conduct a research interview under the research study entitled “The Research on Health Insurance Systems in New Economic Growth Countries”. The researchers included the followings.
1) Dr. Hideki MAEDA (Professor, Department of Regulatory Science, Meiji Pharmaceutical University (MPU))
2) Mr. Masahide KAWANO (Senior Manager, Infrastructure Department, Institute for Healthcare Economics and Research (IHEP))
3) Mr. Kazunari YOKOTA (First Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Bangkok)
4) Ms. Riko SHINGAI (Research Assistant, Department of Regulatory Science, Meiji Pharmaceutical University (MPU))

This research topic aims to study the status of drug usage and healthcare system trends in other countries, e.g. actual conditions and initiatives for system reforms related to pharmaceuticals, the status of introduction of health economic evaluation methods, actual conditions of use, and insurance coverage of off-label drugs. The research is conducted by Japan's Institute for Healthcare Economics and Research (IHEP).

Furthermore, this activity responded to the SDG’s 3rd Goal: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages, 10th Goal: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and 17th Goal: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
