On Monday, October 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), hosted the international conference “Innovations in AI- and Omics-based Drug Discovery, Advanced Drug Delivery, and Precision Therapy” at The Landmark Bangkok Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Chagriya Kitiyakara, MBBS (Lond), FRCP, Vice President for Research, and Assoc. Prof. Cherdchai Nopmaneejumruslers, M.D., Vice President for Information Technology and Digital Transformation, Mahidol University. Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean of MUPY, delivered a report outlining the objectives of the conference and welcomed the 109 participants, including experts from various countries.

The conference was supported by the Reinventing University initiative under Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). It aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise in AI- and omics-based drug discovery, advanced drug delivery, and precision therapy, as well as to foster international academic and research collaboration.

The program featured four invited talks. Prof. Nicolas H. Voelcker from Monash University, Australia, presented “Spiky biointerfaces – Nano-microneedle arrays for drug delivery and wearable biosensing”. Prof. Jeremie Guedj from the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), France, discussed “Viral dynamic models during COVID-19: Are we ready for the next pandemic?”. Dr. Hamid Alinejad-Rokny from the University of New South Wales, Australia, presented "Building the next generation of foundation models for spatial biology" while Dr. Hsuan-Yu Chen from Academia Sinica, Taiwan, delivered a talk entitled “From multi-omics to multimodal deep learning: Advancing AI-driven precision medicine”.

The afternoon program included a round-table workshop with the invited speakers. Participants took part in group discussions on international collaboration and action planning. The workshop was facilitated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermpong Saenjum from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Chiang Mai University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Veerawan Uchayaphati from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University, and Dr. Khun Klang Buddapeng from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ubon Ratchathani University.

The conference provided an opportunity for researchers and experts to exchange knowledge and perspectives on drug discovery, drug delivery, and precision therapy. The event also supported the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, through its focus on pharmaceutical research and therapeutic innovation; SDG 4: Quality Education, through academic knowledge exchange; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through international academic and research collaboration.
