Between October 21, 2024, and November 29, 2024, two 6th-year undergraduate students majoring in Pharmaceutical Care from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, traveled abroad to participate in a professional internship in Japan. The two students, Mr. Boonyakorn Konghirun and Ms. Faosia Akkaramanat, undertook their professional training at 1) QoL Pharmacy, 2) RYUSEIDO Pharmacy, 3) Kawakita General Hospital, and 4) Nihondo Kampo School. These institutions were part of the professional training network of Meiji Pharmaceutical University in Japan, under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Dr. Kazuhiro Higuchi and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ryoko Sakai.
The objective of this activity was to enhance the academic and professional skills of 6th-year pharmacy students at an international level through study and professional training at partner universities abroad. This would help expand their knowledge, experiences, language skills, and understanding of foreign cultures. Moreover, the program encouraged the students to exchange and broaden their academic, professional, and life experiences, preparing them to become globally competent graduates and Global Citizens. It also fostered the development of international relationships with academics and students from other countries.
Additionally, this overseas internship program strengthened a strong relationship between MUPY and MPU. It also corresponded to the Faculty of Pharmacy's Mission of producing graduates with equivalent quality to leading pharmacy institutions in Asia, equipped with morality and competency to serve societal need. It also responded to SDG’s Goal 4: Quality Education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
