On November 29, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. (local time in Japan), the delegation of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY) led by Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, MUPY's Chairperson of the Professional Practice Committee in the Pharmaceutical Care Track, along with Asst. Prof. Sayamon Sukkha and Dr. Amporn Songkasiri paid a courtesy visit at the School of Pharmacy, Showa University located in Kanagawa Prefectures, Tokyo Metropolis, Japan.
In this regard, they received a warm welcome from its faculty members led by Prof. Dr. Hiroyuki Itabe, the Chairperson of International Exchange Committee, School of Pharmacy, and Prof. Dr. Koji Nobe, the Dean of the Graduate School, School of Pharmacy. Having been held on the campus of Showa University's School of Pharmacy, this collaborative meeting was aimed at exploratory discussions on future collaborative activities in education and research such as student exchange and clinical internship for MUPY students next year, faculty exchange, professional training, joint research projects, and other academic activities. After the meeting, they were provided a campus tour to see the learning and research facilities of Showa University's School of Pharmacy.
Besides, MUPY delegates had an opportunity to visit Showa University Hospital to learn about Japanese pharmacists roles at the Pharmacy Unit during their visit, allowing them to gain an understanding of the Pharmacy Unit 's operations and procedures in Japanese context. This site was considered one of the professional training site of MUPY students in the near future.
Furthermore, this activity responded to the SDG’s Goal 4th: Reduce inequality within and among countries, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17th: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
