MUPY visited MPU for supervising students and strengthening partnership

On November 28, 2023, at 01:00 p.m. (local time in Japan), the representatives of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY) including Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, MUPY's Chairperson of the Professional Practice Committee in the Pharmaceutical Care Track, along with Asst. Prof. Sayamon Sukkha and Dr. Amporn Songkasiri visited Meiji Pharmaceutical University (MPU) located in Kiyose City, Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. The purposes of their official visit were to 1) visit the training sites and supervise two MUPY undergraduate students who had undertaken their clinical internship hosted by MPU's Dr. Kazuhiro HIGUCHI in Tokyo, Japan, 2) attend the students' exit presentation and give feedbacks to them, and 3) discuss future student exchange and training programs between the two institutes. 

In this regard, Prof. Dr. Hirotoshi Echizen, the President of MPU, as well as the faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Manabu AKAZAWA, Prof. Dr. Akifumi Kushiyama, Prof. Dr. Hideki Maeda, Prof. Dr. Ryoko Sakai, and Prof. Dr. Kazuhiro Higuchi attended the meeting and cordially welcomed the faculty members of MUPY. They also had the opportunity to make plans for the future clinical clerkship program for MPU students during the meeting held at MPU.

Additionally, MUPY representatives visited the training sites and facilities including the Kampo Medicine Learning Centers and the Qol Pharmacy located in Tokyo City. The official visit was conducted by Dr. Kazuhiro HIGUCHI on November 29, 2023, allowing them to learn more about Japanese healthcare and pharmacy system and community pharmacy practice in Japan's context.

Furthermore, this overseas trip responded to SDG’s Goal 4: Quality Education to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
