On February 1, 2024, from 10.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., MUPY's International Relations Unit organized the welcoming and orientation meeting for two exchange students from the School of Pharmacy, Showa University, Japan. Having been held at Room 404, Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkaew, the Deputy Dean for International and Public Relations, Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, and Dr. Yuka Tokunaga, a faculty member from the School of Pharmacy, Showa University, attended the meeting to provide a warm welcome to the students.
These two Japanese undergraduate students included 1) Ms. Mana Hasegawa and 2) Ms. Juri Chono. They visited MUPY to carry out the short-term student exchange program hosted MUPY during February 1-6, 2024. The objectives of this student mobility program were to 1) provide the participating students with international exposure and experiences in the field of pharmacy education, the healthcare and pharmacy systems of Thailand, and Thai traditional medicine, 2) increase mutual understanding of the differences in the profession and responsibilities of pharmacists between the two countries, and 3) develop participating students’ English language skill, cross-cultural communication, and interpersonal communication skills. It also aimed to increase academic staff and students' worldwide exposure, resulting in leveraging the global visibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Furthermore, this activity corresponded the Faculty’s mission on terms of serving as the portal for professional services that encompasses drugs, herbal medicine, cosmetics and dietary supplement to support the sustainable development of the nation. It also responded to SDG’s 4th Goal: Reduce inequality within and among countries, 10th Goal: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and 17th Goal: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership.
