On April 28, 2023, from 10.00 a.m. – 11.30 a.m., MUPY’s International Relations Unit arranged an exit presentation of four exchange students from College of Pharmacy, University of Kentucky, United States. Having been held at Room 405, the exit presentation was attended by Assoc. Prof. Thanarat Suansanae, a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacy, and Dr. Amporn Songkasiri. Four American undergraduate students included 1) Ms. Lauren Elizabeth Dietz 2) Ms. Cemeron Mayzee Koontz 3) Ms. Regan Leigh Dean 4) Ms. Madison Nicole Meyer. They participated in the Professional Training Program in Clinical Pharmacy physically arranged by MUPY’s International Relations Unit from March 20, 2023, to April 28, 2023, at the Faculty of Pharmacy and affiliated training sites such as the teaching hospital of Mahidol University, Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital, and community pharmacy.
The objective of this training program was to provide the students with international exposure and experiences focusing on clinical pharmacy in hospitals, healthcare centers, and drug stores, allowing them to explore and compare the healthcare system of Thailand and the United States as well as traditional medicine in both countries. Also, this activity could help increase mutual understanding of the differences in the profession and responsibilities of pharmacists between the two countries. Besides, participating in this program could help develop the students’ cross-cultural communication and interpersonal communication skills. This also determined to increase academic staff, pharmacists, and students’ worldwide exposure, resulting in leveraging the global visibility of the Faculty of Pharmacy and its training sites.
Furthermore, this exchange program supported the Faculty’s Missions in terms of serving as the portal for professional services that encompasses drugs, herbal medicine, cosmetics, and dietary supplement to support the sustainable development of the nation. It also responded to the SDG’s Goal 4th: Reduce inequality within and among countries, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17th: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
