Silicone membrane permeation of model solutes were studied. It was found that physicochemical parameters, namely an intrinsic molecular volume and solvatochromic parameters, can be used to determine the rate and extent of model solutes penetration across the silicone membrane. A mathematical model used for quantitative prediction of the permeation charateristics of solute across the model membrane has been proposed. Prediction of permeability coefficient of chlorocresol has been carried out using this equation. It was shown that the predicted value closely approximate the actual value. Additionally, this model also provides useful insight into the complex nature of permeation process through silicone membrane
