Visit of MPU delegates to learn healthcare system and pharmacy system of Thailand

On December 22, 2023, from 09:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., MUPY’s executives led by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, the Dean, and Assoc. Prof. Usa Chaikedkleaw, Deputy Dean for International and Public Relations, along with Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, Assist. Prof. Sayamon Sukkha, and Dr. Amporn Songkasiri provided a warm welcome to the delegation from Meiji Pharmaceutical University (MPU), Japan. The delegates included 1) Dr. Kazuhiro Higuchi, 2) Dr. Ryoko Sakai, and 3) Mr. Keisuke Takabatake. They visited MUPY to learn about Thailand's healthcare system, pharmacy system, and community pharmacy.

Before the visit to the training sites, Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana also provided a brief lecture on “Pharmacy Education System and Pharmacist Roles in Thailand” to give background information focusing on Thailand's healthcare system and pharmacy system. After that, Dr. Amporn Songkasiri brought MPU delegates to visit the Pharmacy Department of Somdech Phra Debaratana Medical Center (SDMC), Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital where the delegates had an opportunity to learn and share with SDMC's pharmacists as well as to attend the exit presentation of MPU students who had finished their clinical internship at SDMC under the supervision of Ms. Patcharin Suphabsophon.

On Saturday, December 23, 2023, Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, Assist. Prof. Sayamon Sukkha, and Dr. Amporn Songkasiri took MPU delegates to visit Phonprasit Pharmacy and Blez Pharmacy where they could share professional experiences and learn about community pharmacy practices and pharmacist's roles in Thailand.

Furthermore, this activity supported the Faculty’s Missions in terms of serving as the portal for professional services that encompasses drugs, herbal medicine, cosmetics and dietary supplement to support the sustainable development of the nation. It also responded to the SDG’s Goal 4th: Reduce inequality within and among countries, Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries, and Goal 17th: Partnership for the Goals to strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
