Amiodarone เป็นยารักษาภาวะหัวใจเต้นผิดจังหวะ (antiarrhythmic drugs) ซึ่งจัดเป็นยา class III ตามระบบการแบ่งยารักษาภาวะหัวใจเต้นผิดจังหวะ Vaughan-Williams ยาตัวนี้มีกลไกการออกฤทธิ์มากกว่า 1 กลไก โดยกลไกหลักในการออกฤทธิ์ คือ prolonged cardiac action potential ซึ่งเป็นฤทธิ์ของ class III นอกจากนี้ยาตัวนี้ยังยับยั้ง sodium, calcium และ potassium channels ได้อีกด้วย ซึ่งข้อบ่งใช้ของยา amiodarone ได้แก่ atrial fibrillation, supraventricular arrhythmia, ventricular arrhythmia
