Rivotril® เป็นชื่อการค้าที่มีตัวยาสำคัญคือ clonazepam ซึ่งเป็นยาที่ใช้ต้านอาการชัก อย่างไรก็ตามมีการใช้ clonazepam ในขนาดต่ำเพื่อใช้รักษากลุ่มอาการแสบร้อนช่องปาก (burning mouth syndrome) ให้ยาโดยการรับประทานหรือทำเป็นยาบ้วนปาก ในกรณีที่ใช้บ้วนปากนั้นผลจากการศึกษาโดยใช้ยาความแรง 0.5 มิลลิกรัมต่อมิลลิลิตร บ้วนปากในปริมาณเล็กน้อย วันละ 2-4 ครั้ง เป็นเวลาอย่างน้อย 2 สัปดาห์ พบว่ายาให้ผลทุเลาอาการแสบร้อนช่องปากได้ กลไกการออกฤทธิ์ยังไม่ทราบชัดเจน แต่เชื่อว่ายายับยั้งความเจ็บปวดโดยออกฤทธิ์ผ่านตัวรับชนิดกาบา-เอ (GABA-A receptors) ที่อวัยวะส่วนปลาย (ภายในช่องปาก) และที่สมอง สำหรับอาการไม่พึงประสงค์ที่อาจพบเมื่อให้ยา clonazepam แบบเฉพาะที่โดยการบ้วนปาก เช่น อาการง่วงหลับ สงบประสาท อารมณ์เปลี่ยนแปลง สับสน Keywords: clonazepam, burning mouth syndrome, กลุ่มอาการแสบร้อนช่องปาก
