ขนาดยา amoxicillin ในการรักษาหูอักเสบในเด็ก กรณีหูชั้นกลางอักเสบเฉียบพลัน (acute otitis media) ใช้ขนาด 80-90 มิลลิกรัม/กิโลกรัม/วัน แบ่งให้วันละ 2 ครั้ง หรือ amoxicillin-clavulanate ขนาด 90/6.4 มิลลิกรัม/กิโลกรัม/วัน (อัตราส่วนของ amoxicillin ต่อ clavulanate =14:1) หากใช้ผลิตภัณฑ์ Augmentin syr (อัตราส่วน amoxicillin ต่อ clavulanate =7:1) ในการเพิ่มขนาดยาเป็นสองเท่า โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำมาใช้ทดแทน Augmentin syr (อัตราส่วน amoxicillin ต่อ clavulanate =14:1) นั้น ควรคำนึงถึงปริมาณ clavulanate ที่เพิ่มขึ้นจนอาจมากเกิน ซึ่ง European Medicine Agency ได้ระบุไว้ว่า clavulanate ขนาด 375 มิลลิกรัมต่อวัน ก็เพียงพอที่จะยับยั้งเชื้อที่ไวต่อ beta-lactamase ได้แล้ว Keywords: amoxicillin, clavulanate, acute otitis media, หูอักเสบในเด็ก
