Pharmacy Review and Update Series 2021: Pharmacotherapy of the Eye

On August 23-25, 2021, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University organized an online conference entitled ’Pharmacy Review and Update Series 2021: Pharmacotherapy of the Eye’ via the Cisco Webex Event platform. In this regard, Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan virtually presided over its opening session and delivered a warm welcoming speech to 638 online participants from various fields of health professions such as pharmacists, physicians, and nurses. Over the 3-day conference, there were many distinguished speakers from MUPY’s various Departments as well as invited speakers and experts from affiliated institutes. They gave a lecture on numerous topics such as Pharmaceutical Perspectives of Topical Ophthalmic Preparations, Age-Related Macular Degeneration: Pathogenesis, Prevention and Treatment, Corneal Diseases: Treatment of Infectious Conjunctivitis. The objectives of this conference were to raise awareness and provide essential knowledge about the pharmacotherapy of the eye to pharmacists, physicians, and healthcare practitioners. Moreover, this conference was financially supported by drug companies including 1) Viatris Thailand Inc., 2) Novartis (Thailand) LTD., 3) Santen (Thailand) Co., Ltd., 4) TRB Chemedica (Thailand) LTD., 5) B.L. HUA & Co., Ltd. In addition, this conference was considered one of the academic activities in a special project, which has been arranging throughout this year, to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth year of Dr. Pradit Hutangura, the founder of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University.
