On August 2, 2021, at 10.00 a.m., MUPY’s executives and faculty members participated in an online meeting with the CEOs of K-Agro Innovate Institute and Kasikorn Bank PCL to present a research proposal focusing on herbal medicines and to explore the feasibility of the research collaboration between two organizations under the ’NAN SANDBOX’ project initiated by Kasikorn Bank PCL.
The project aimed to solve the poverty and forestation problems in Thailand’s Nan province and to encourage the nearby villagers to cultivate high-value plants instead of low-value ones in order to sustainably increase their incomes. The high-value plants included medicinal plants which have been a strong research area of the Faculty of Pharmacy for more than 50 years. Two institutions, therefore, have realized its significance and initiated a research collaboration to leverage the villagers’ quality of life throughout the plantation of medicinal plants. The herbal supplies will be then transformed and produced based on pharmaceutical sciences to be the end products, resulting in the industrial community and sustainability of the villages.
