On January 30, 2020, Mahidol University Health Technology Assessment (MUHTA) Graduate Program led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkaew, Director of MUHTA Graduate Program, together with the program members hosted a side meeting in Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) 2020 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World, Bangkok, Thailand with the title of “ Translation of Health Technology Assessment Research into Evidence-Based Policies and Actions towards Achieving Universal Health Coverage: Lessons Learned from Low and Middle-Income Countries” under the PMAC theme “Accelerating Progress Towards Universal Health Coverage”.
The program was honored by Prof. Antony J. Culyer, Chair of MUHTA International Advisory Board & Emeritus Professor of Economics, Center for Health Economics, University of York, UK, to be a chairperson of this side meeting along with Dr. Jasmine Pwu, Director of National Hepatitis C Program Office, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taiwan, Dr. Pattara Leelahavarong Director of Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program(HITAP), Thailand, and Ms. Netnaphis Suchonwanich, Senior Advisory of Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP), Thailand, to be the discussants of this side meeting.
This side meeting was well received with interested parties participating in the meeting from various organizations from many countries. The side meeting aims to provide its audiences with the lessons learned on how the results of health technology assessment (HTA) research, particularly economic evaluations, systematic reviews, and meta-analysis, that can be used to assist in making decisions on health policies and actions towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).
