From 24–26 July 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, participated as an invited international speaker at the Malaysian Pharmacists Society National Pharmacists Convention (NPC) 2026, held at the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel, Putrajaya, Malaysia. During the convention, he delivered one plenary lecture and two parallel scientific presentations, and later served as a panelist in an ASEAN forum on strengthening pharmacy practice. Organized by the Malaysian Pharmacists Society in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Malaysia, the convention provided a regional platform for pharmacists, pharmacy educators, researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration in advancing pharmacy education and pharmaceutical practice.
As part of the scientific programme, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surakit delivered the plenary lecture entitled "Educating the Modern Pharmacist: A Century of Change in Global Pharmacy Training," highlighting the evolution of pharmacy education and the competencies required to prepare future pharmacists for rapidly changing healthcare systems. He also presented two parallel-session lectures: "Innovative Teaching Methods for Pharmacy: The Thailand Experience," showcasing educational innovations implemented at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, and "Pre-emptive Pharmacogenomics Services in Thailand," presenting Thailand's progress in integrating pharmacogenomics into clinical practice to support precision medicine. In addition, he served as a panelist in the ASEAN forum "Strengthening Pharmacy Practice in ASEAN: Shared Challenges, Collective Solutions," alongside pharmacy leaders from Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand to discuss regional collaboration in advancing pharmacy practice.
The invitation to deliver multiple presentations and participate in a regional forum reflects the international recognition of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, in pharmacy education, research, and professional leadership. The participation also strengthened academic collaboration and showcased Thailand's contributions to pharmacy education and precision medicine. This activity supports the Faculty's missions in education, research, and academic services, while contributing to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
