MUPY Welcomes Delegates from the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to Advance International Research Collaboration

On Friday, June 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, together with faculty members from the Department of Pharmaceutical Botany, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Methee Phumthum and Asst. Prof. Dr. Bhanubong Bongcheewin, warmly welcomed delegates from the Yunnan International Joint Laboratory of Health Plant Resources Development, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, to the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University.
The distinguished delegation comprised Dr. Ruyu Yao, Director, and Miss Jie Qian, Deputy Director, who visited the Faculty to further strengthen the partnership between the two institutions and discuss detailed plans for future collaborative activities. During the meeting, both parties exchanged ideas on potential areas of collaboration, with particular emphasis on advancing research initiatives and promoting academic cooperation in the field of medicinal and health plant resources. The discussion also explored opportunities to foster long-term partnerships through joint research, knowledge exchange, and other mutually beneficial academic endeavors.
Following the meeting, the delegates toured the Faculty's research facilities, where they gained insights into the Faculty's research capabilities, state-of-the-art laboratories, and ongoing scientific activities. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and reinforce the commitment of both institutions to developing sustainable international research collaborations.
Furthermore, this activity supported the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening international academic and research collaboration, as well as SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through the promotion of research and innovation in medicinal and health plant resources.
