MUPY Signs MoU with HUST to Strengthen Research and Innovation Capacity Toward International Excellence

On Monday, April 20, 2026, from 09:00 to 10:30 a.m., administrative Members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY), led by Assoc. Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wichit Nosoongnoen, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Jaturong Pratuangdejkul, attended the welcoming ceremony for the delegation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), People’s Republic of China, led by Dr. Bo Liu. The event was presided over by Prof. Piyamitr Sritara, M.D., FRCP, President of Mahidol University, at Room 530, Office of the President, Mahidol University, Salaya.

During the meeting, executives from both institutions engaged in discussions on potential academic collaboration, focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the development of Double Degree programs, and the establishment of Joint Laboratories in collaboration with relevant faculties. The occasion also marked the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mahidol University and HUST. In addition, a faculty-level MoU and Joint Laboratory Agreement were signed between the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, and the School of Pharmacy, Tongji Medical College, HUST, witnessed by representatives from both sides, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening international academic and research partnerships.

Later, from 02:00 to 04:30 p.m., at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, administrative members led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wichit Nosoongnoen, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantana Nuchtavorn, Assistant Dean for Research and Innovation, Asst. Prof. Dr. Somnuk Bunsupa, Assistant Dean for Research and Innovation, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pimpikar Kanchanadumkerng, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies, as well as faculty members from the Department of Microbiology, including Assist. Prof. Dr. Jaturong Pratuangdejkul and Dr. Sumet Chongruchiroj, warmly welcomed the delegation from the School of Pharmacy, Tongji Medical College, HUST, led by Prof. HUANG Rui. The visit aimed to further explore concrete academic and research collaborations between the two institutions.

On this occasion, Dr. Ye Ying delivered a distinguished academic lecture entitled “Study on Biosynthesis of Fungal Bioactive Natural Products and Mining of Catalytic Elements” to faculty members, researchers, and students of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The session attracted significant interest and fostered academic exchange. The delegation also visited several research centers and laboratories within the Faculty to explore research capabilities and infrastructure, paving the way for future collaborative initiatives. This collaborative engagement marked a significant milestone in advancing the Faculty of Pharmacy’s mission to produce high-quality graduates with global competencies and to generate internationally recognized research and innovation.
