MUPY Welcomes Visiting Scholar from School of Pharmacy, Showa Medical University to Enhance Global Pharmacy Education Research

On Monday, January 26, 2026, at 09:00 a.m., the administrative members of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, along with Assoc. Prof. Thanarat Suansanae, Deputy Dean for Education, and Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana, Deputy Dean for the Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program), officially welcomed Asst. Prof. Dr. Tsuyoshi Maruyama from the Department of Pharmaceutical Education, School of Pharmacy, Showa Medical University, Japan. The visit marked his commencement as a Visiting Scholar at the Faculty to foster international academic and research collaborations.
During his one-year tenure, spanning from January 26, 2026, to January 25, 2027, Asst. Prof. Dr. Maruyama was scheduled to engage in knowledge exchange and collaborative research in the field of Pharmacy Education. This initiative specifically integrated with the Doctor of Pharmacy Program (International Program) under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Thanarat Suansanae and Asst. Prof. Jennis Meanwatthana. The primary objectives of this collaboration were to develop pedagogical innovations and elevate pharmacy education standards to meet international professional demands through intensive cross-institutional academic exchange.
This partnership was expected to significantly enhance the Faculty’s academic and research capacity, leading to the modernization of instructional models and improved graduate quality for the international program. Furthermore, this initiative aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting high-quality and inclusive learning opportunities, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening global collaboration for sustainable academic development. This engagement underscored the Faculty of Pharmacy’s commitment to achieving international excellence in pharmaceutical sciences.
