MUPY Strengthens Global Partnerships with London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

On Monday, 19 January 2026, at 09:00 a.m., executives of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University (MUPY) led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surakit Nathisuwan, Dean of MUPY, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong, Deputy Dean for Global Partnerships and Corporate Communication, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Montarat Thavorncharoensap, Program Director of the MUHTA Graduate Program, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Usa Chaikledkaew, officially welcomed Prof. Dr. Kara Hanson, Professor of Health System Economics from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), United Kingdom, on the occasion of her visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University, to explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

At 11:00 a.m., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sitaporn Youngkong accompanied Prof. Dr. Kara Hanson on a courtesy visit to the executive management of Mahidol University, where they were received by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Naparenu Sajjarak Thirathiti, Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council Affairs. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on strengthening academic and research collaboration. In the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Kara Hanson was escorted to the Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University, where she was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalermpol Jamjuntree, Director of the Institute, to further discuss potential areas of academic and research cooperation.

The purpose of the visit was to enhance and formalize academic and research collaboration between the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and various academic units of Mahidol University, particularly in the areas of health system economics and public health policy. The visit is expected to foster knowledge exchange, joint research initiatives, and capacity building at the international level.

This visit strengthened international academic networks and supported the Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University’s mission to produce and disseminate high-quality research and innovation at international standards, while enhancing its global engagement. It also contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, through evidence-based health system development, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through the promotion of international academic collaboration.
